ABOUT BUCKEYE

The Buckeye Samoyed Club originated in 1998 when several Ohio breed fanciers saw the need for a local Samoyed club to showcase the many facets of this breed.

We have been host two Samoyed Specialties per year located in the Ohio area.

Currently, we have approximately 30 club members with various breed interests such as conformation showing, performance events (such as agility and obedience), sledding, herding, pack hikes, therapy work (which consists of dogs visiting patients at hospitals and nursing homes), junior handling for those under the age of 18 and breed rescue.

Our club has bimonthly meetings, sometimes face to face, and at times through emails.  Historically we have also had a bi-monthly newsletter known as The Howler which reports on current events, upcoming events, litter arrivals, brags from club members and rescue report of dogs available, adopted, etc.

We also host fund raising for our Buckeye Samoyed Rescue with raffles, silent auctions as well as encourage tax-deductible donations to rescue ( Please refer to the Buckeye Samoyed Rescue website if interested in donating:   http://www.buckeyesamoyedrescue.org

In the past our club has hosted not only specialty dog shows but also dog sledding outings, herding events, pack hikes, Christmas photo shoots, Meet The Breed, grooming demonstrations, etc just to name a few.  We also have a yearly get together and awards banquet to honor the dogs and owners who have attained AKC titles from the previous year.

Our future goals are to continue to teaching and encourage new members to participate in the many facets of our breed and to encourage breed enthusiasts to join our club.
